Andrea knew that the stress from work, paired with a sedentary lifestyle, was packing on the pounds; but it wasn’t until he found himself shopping for clothes, that he realized that something was really wrong.
No stranger to serious wake-up calls and putting his health first, Andrea knew what he had to do. He quit smoking years ago, however, he found it hard to manage the stress in his life without turning to a new crutch: food. Andrea conquered his addiction to cigarettes, but he soon discovered that he had new struggles to overcome. His excessive weight was exacerbating arthritis in his ankle. His weight gain also led to hypertension (a crushing diagnosis he discovered while donating blood) and he started taking medication to treat his condition.
“I needed to have a certain blood pressure level to give blood. At the time my levels were much too high to safely give blood, and I was forced to take a pill for hypertension. I couldn’t digest it and I couldn’t accept it! It made me feel old.”
Breaking Hard Habits
Initially, Andrea was focused on losing weight, adopting a healthier lifestyle and getting back into shape. He soon found that his goals were easier said than done.
“It was not easy! I was accustomed to eating badly and [eating] all the bad food I had at my disposal.”
As difficult as it was for Andrea to change his poor habits, he was determined to make a change. He was committed to improving his health and lifestyle. He slowly started to implement the tools of the Body by Vi 90-Day Challenge to help him meet his goals. Gradually, he replaced unhealthy foods with fruit, the Vi-Shape shake and Nutra Cookies (which he loves).
New Attitude, New Lifestyle
Andrea has lost an impressive 60 pounds since he started the Challenge! Now lighter, he no longer feels discomfort from arthritis and tendinitis. For Andrea, the Challenge has helped him adopt a healthier lifestyle. He’s learned how to choose nutritious meals and healthier options that fit his new way of living. He feels more energetic than ever and happily reports that he has a strong desire to stay committed to his health goals!
